Day 16. 10 small moments
1. He lets the biscuits rise a little. We wait for the coffee to cool while we both do other things to prepare for the day. --And thus the morning officially starts.
2. It's GROWNUPS day for his grade at school. We're able to both go and he is thrilled. They have tubs of soapy water and they (successfully!!!) use plastic kid's clothes hangars to make gigantic bubbles. He gifts us a family portrait made out of pebbles. I will cherish this most perfect gift!
3. We try the dishes - the ones we felt still needed work. I love the lemon-rose yogurt and I think of him. He would love this and I would order it for him without hesitating.
4. We review and discuss a spreadsheet of estimates projected on the screen. The room is dim and she speaks so very softly. My tummy is still so full of good food. Sugar coma kicking in... I am falling falling falling asleep... So I stand up and lean against the door to refocus. I wish I had learned this trick in college.
5. I make a bee line for green floral foam and try not to get distracted by all of the other craft supplies. I desperately want to look, but I don't.
6. I pick him up from school and he still has clay on his hands. I love that simple and natural mess. If I could have at least one potter in the family I would feel lucky.
7. I make the bed and look forward to slipping into crisp clean cotton sheets.
8. We are both tired from the week, and so he goes back out to buy a chicken pot pie. He returns home with enough groceries for the weekend and we make pasta instead.
9. I give them a 5 minute bed time warning, and I find them sitting *thisclose* to each other while watching a show.
10. I read him one of our favorite kids books that shows the size of Earth in the context of relating its size to the size and location of the sun; the size and location of the galaxy. We both are in awe of how small we are.
