Day 20. 10 small moments
1. I tried to sneak out and get coffee, but I think the door must be made out of solid steel and a thousand hangry cats. It sounds like the jaws of hell opening and closing.
2. Queen Victoria Agave, #ftw.
3. We order breakfast and catch up over a large pot of coffee -- a simple luxury of time spent with people you adore. It took us traveling hundreds of miles to just sit and BE.
4. The dragon fruit is attractive, but tasteless. I will forever use it as a metaphor in my back pocket along with, "He's as pretty as a picture, and just as shallow as one."
5. The emails and texts keep coming, and 70% of me is back in Milwaukee. I realize that I don't experience any guilt in this feeling that I'm not 100% in either place. I suppose that is the true vacation state of mind: The freedom to feel 70/30.
6. Another stroll through the cacti garden. I wonder if I could ever live here. I take a dozen photos of the same few cacti because I know the answer.
7. We FaceTime. Her hair is in her face and she's slightly disheveled and very smiley. My heart hurts a little. Now I'm at 95/5.
8. This sunblock smells like coconut oil and hot vacations.
9. I order my weight in Hummus, Chelow and Chicken Soltani. I make a mental note to try to make it at home... I'm thankful for my fun and flirty palazzo pants with the oh-so-stretchy elastic band.
10. The sun hits us hard, and we are sleepy early. Plus: food coma.
